About

Hi, I am pikan. You can call me P.

The only time that I used to read or watch the news was during my family dinners at the choice of my father, even though I’d much rather have watched cartoons. He seemed to favor CNN and NBC. During college, I began to learn more about the biases of each news network as I observed the presidential election of 2008, which resulted in the inauguration of President Barrack Obama. Coming from a background that is just about everything Democratic (minority, first generation, non-religious, college student), this event seemed only natural. As a fan of knowledge, I delved deeper into the world of politics to learn about the actual issues rather than the theatrics. What I found is that I became more and more independent because of my desire to understand all walks of life. For me, there are agreements and disagreements on both sides of the aisle. What seemed rather futile, though, is the constant debate of politics, however essential to our sustained democratic republic.

When I was abroad for a college semester, I started to miss my home country after some time. To feel closer to home, I decided to read the news for current events, and the first website that came to my mind was CNN.com. From this longing, my habit grew into a form of entertainment as I perused through CNN.com daily for headline stories. Eventually, the political stories, to me, a blog enthusiast, seem to merit a discussion. So here we are – my take on politics, for whoever wants to read, for whoever cares to comment.
